Botox injections

First, let’s talk about one of the most enduringly popular cosmetic treatments in the world: Botox injections.
Also known as anti-wrinkle injections, these smooth away fine lines and wrinkles in areas of the face such as the brows, forehead and around the eyes. The active ingredient, Botox, reduces signals from the brain to the muscles, which in turn softens wrinkles formed by expressive movement (think frowning or smiling). Results last around 4 months and develop in a matter of weeks.

Dermal fillers

Designed for areas of the face like the cheeks, chin and around the mouth, these plump, volumise and moisturise with hydrating hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers are incredibly popular as they can achieve drastic results with just a few injections. They can also be used to contour by adding volume, such as for non-surgical rhinoplasty. Expect an immediate improvement that lasts up to 18 months.

Microneedling

For a rejuvenated appearance, look no further than microneedling. This treatment uses tiny needles – as the name suggests – to cause micro-injuries in the skin, prompting the renewal process. It’s used for lines and wrinkles; acne scarring; pigmentation; and more. Results develop within a few weeks, but a course of treatments and some upkeep is needed to maintain the effects. While not strictly an injectable treatment, thanks to the tiny perforations in the skin, serums can be applied which absorb more readily for enhanced results.

Lip fillers

Made famous by A-listers like the Kardashians, lip fillers are actually a type of dermal filler. This means that they are also made of hyaluronic acid. They can be used to smooth the lips, target lines and wrinkles around the mouth, correct asymmetry and thin lips, and better define areas like the cupid’s bow. Again, 18 months is a typical timeframe for results.

Profhilo

Another hyaluronic acid treatment, this is a more purified form that addresses skin damage and loss of volume. Instead of being a gel-like substance, like regular dermal fillers, Profhilo uses more fluid hyaluronic acid that penetrates more deeply and easily into the skin. It is also injected into several sites at once for more widespread hydration.
